PRAYERS 85 Prayer on being Invited for Dinner Hadrat ‘Abdull a h bin ‘Abb a s ra relates that the Holy Prophet sa took Kh a lid bin Wal i d ra and me to his house, he gave us milk to drink and instructed us to recite this prayer on receiving food from God: ْ ْاَﻟﻠّٰﻬُﻢَّ ﺑَﺎرِک ﻓِﻴ ْ ﻟَﻨَﺎ ِ وَ اَﻃª ْ ًْ ﻌِﻤ ﺧَري ْ ﻨَﺎ ﻣِّﻨ ُ ا ª. 162 O All a h , bless this food for us and grant us even better food. Prayer after Drinking Milk Hadrat ‘Abdull a h bin ‘Abb a s ra relates that the Holy Prophet sa gave us milk to drink and advised us that whosoever is given milk to drink by God should pray in these words: ْ ْاَﻟﻠّٰﻬُﻢَّ ﺑَﺎرِک ﻓِﻴ ْ ﻟَﻨَﺎ ªِْ وَزِد ﻣِﻨ ُ ﻧَﺎ ª. 163 O All a h , Bless this food and increase it for us. Prayer on Wearing New Clothes Hadrat Ab u Sa‘ i d Khudr i ra relates that whenever the Holy Prophet sa wore new clothes, he mentioned it by name for example a shirt, shawl or headgear, and recited this prayer: َ َْاَﻟﻠّٰﻬُﻢ َّ ﻟَک ْ احل ْ ﻤ ْ ﺪ ُ اَﻧ ْ ﺖ َ کَﺴَﻮ ِﻴَﺗ َ ِ أª ْ ْ ﺳ ِْﺎَﻟُک َ ﻣِﻦ ﺧَري ہ ِْ و َ ﺧَري ﻣَﺎ ﺻُﻨِﻊ َ ﻟªَ َ ْ و ْ اَﻋُﻮ ذُﺑِکَ ﻣِﻦ ﺷَﺮِّ ہ ﺻُﻨِﻊَ ﻟªَ وَ ﺷَﺮِّ ﻣَﺎ . 164 O All a h , all praise belongs to You. You gave me these clothes to wear. I seek Your blessings in this dress and blessings for the purpose for which it was made. And O All a h , I seek refuge in You from the evils of this dress and evils, which can emanate from it. Hadrat ‘Umar ra used to recite a prayer on wearing a new clothes and narrated a tradition of the Holy Prophet sa that whosoever gets new clothes and gives his old clothes
