PRAYERS 69 Most Gracious Ever Merciful). If 'Bismill a h' is forgotten at the beginning of a meal, ْ ﺑِﺴ ﻢِ اﷲِ ىفِ اَوَّﻟªِ وَ آﺧِﺮِہ . 107 ( in the name of All a h in the beginning and in the end ) should be recited. After partaking food ِ اَحلَﻤﺪ ُ ﻟِﻠªّٰ should be recited as thanks to All a h. While walking, going into a meeting or entering a house, 'Assal a mu ‘Alaikum' should be said. The one on foot should greet the one who is sitting. The one who is riding should greet the one who is one foot. The reward for the full greetings ا ْ ْ ◌َﻟﺴَّﻼَم ُ 2َﻠَﻴ َْکُﻢ وَرَمح ﺔ ُ اﷲ ِ وَﺑَﺮLََﺎﺗªُ ( peace and All a h ’s blessings be upon you) is equal to thirty good deeds. The recipient should respond with, ْ ُ و2ََﻠَﻴ کُﻢ ُ اﻟﺴَّﻼَم (Peace be on you too). In response to a favour, ًْ ﺟَﺰَاک َ اﻟﻠªّٰ ُ ﺧَري ا (May All a h reward you ) should be said. 108 On hearing the cock crow, All a h 's blessings should be sought. On hearing dog's barking or the donkey braying, ْ ِ اَﻋُﻮ ذُ ﺑِﺎﷲ 'I seek refuge in All a h ', should be said. 109 On seeing an angry person, the Holy Prophet sa said, "I know the words which will subside his anger". َّ ِّ اَﻟﻠّٰﻬُﻢ ْ اِىن ْ اَﻋُﻮ ْ ذ ُ ﺑِک َ ﻣِﻦ َ اﻟﺸَّﻴ ِ ﻄَﺎن ِ اﻟﺮَّﺟِﻴ ﻢ (O All a h , I seek refuge in You from the accursed Satan). 110 On seeing a good dream َْ ْ اَحل ِ ﻤ ﺪ ُ ﻟِﻠªّٰ should be said and there is no harm in relating it to others. On seeing a bad dream ْ ِ اَﻋُﻮ ذ ُ ﺑِﺎﷲ should be recited. The bad dream should not be told to anyone. 111 On sneezing َْ ْ اَحل ِ ﻤ ﺪ ُ ﻟِﻠªّٰ ( all praise belongs to All a h ) should be said. The listener then should reply ْ َْ ﻳَﺮ ُ مح ک َ اﷲ ( All a h have mercy on you). The person sneezing should in return offer this prayer: ْ ْ ﻳَﻬ ْ ﺪِﻳ ْ کُﻢ ُ اﻟﻠªّٰ ُ و َ ﻳُﺼ ﻠِﺢ ُ ﺑَﺎﻟَکُﻢ (may All a h guide you and make your affairs prosper). 112
