PRAYERS 4 5. Prayer for Attaining the Good in this World and Hereafter Hadrat Anas bin M a lik ra was asked to recite a prayer and he recited the following verses. When requested to add to the prayer, he replied that they did not need anything else as he had already supplicated for their welfare in this world and the world Hereafter. 4 Hadrat Anas bin M a lik ra relates the Holy Prophet sa used to recite this prayer with great frequency. 5 ٰ رَﺑَّﻨَﺎ َّ ا ْٰ ﺗِﻨَﺎيف ِ اﻟﺪُّﻧْﻴَﺎﺣَﺴَﻨَﺔًو َّ يفِ اﻻ ﺧِﺮَةِﺣَﺴَﻨَﺔًو ﻗِﻨَﺎ2َﺬَاب َ اﻟﻨَّﺎرِ. (Al-Baqarah 2:202) Our Lord, grant us good in this world as well as good in the world to come and protect us from the torment of the Fire. 6. Prayer of Beneficence in this world and in the world Hereafter Hadrat M u s a as (Moses) prayed for his people in these words: َّ ْٰ وَاﻛْﺘُﺐْ ﻟَﻨَﺎيف ِ ﻫٰﺬRِ ِ اﻟﺪُّﻧْﻴَﺎﺣَﺴَﻨَﺔًو َ يف ِ اﻻ ﺧِﺮَةِ إِﻧَّﺎﻫُﺪْﻧَﺎإِﻟ ﻴْﻚَ. (Al-A‘r a f 7:157) And ordain for us good in this world as well as in the next; we have turned to You with repentance. 7. Prayer Against the Evil Insinuations of Satan ‘Amr bin Sa‘ i d ra relates that the Holy Prophet sa taught his Companions some prayers to recite when retiring for the night. This prayer is one of them. 6 ْ ُ رَب ِّ أَﻋُﻮ ٰ ذ ِْ ﺑِﻚ َ ﻣِﻦ ْ مهََﺰٰت ِ اﻟﺸَّﻴ ْ ﻄِني ْ. وَأَﻋُﻮ َّْ ذُﺑِﻚ َ رَب ِّ أَن ْ حي ِ ﻀُﺮُو ن.
