PRAYERS 120 Establish my understanding firmly; make my tongue steadfast upon truth and the right path. Guide my heart and cleanse my bosom of rancour. Prayer for Beneficial Knowledge Hadrat Ab u Hurairah ra informs us of this prayer of the Holy Prophet sa : ْ ْ اَﻟﻠّٰﻬُﻢ َّ اﻧ ِْ ﻔَﻌ ْىن ِْ مبَِﺎ 2َﻠَّﻤ Zَْىن و2ََﻠِّﻤ، ِْ ْىن ِْ ﻣَﺎ ﻳَﻨ ْ ﻔَﻌُىن ِْ ،وَزِد ْىن 2ِﻠ َْ ْ ﻤًﺎ ،اَحل ِ ﻤ ªّٰﺪ ُ ﻟِﻠ ٰ _َ2 ْ Lُْﻞِّ ﺣَﺎل ٍ وَاَﻋُﻮ ْذُ ﺑِﺎﷲِ ﻣِﻦ ِ ﺣَﺎل ِ اَﻫ ﻞِ اﻟﻨَّﺎر. 243 O All a h , make the knowledge that You have taught me beneficial for me. Teach me such knowledge which brings gain. Increase my knowledge. All praise belongs to All a h in every situation. I seek refuge in All a h from the condition of the people of the Fire. Prayer and Method for Memorizing the Qur’ a n Hadrat ‘Abdull a h bin ‘Abb a s ra relates that once in the company of the Holy Prophet sa Hadrat ‘Al i ra complained about the difficulty of memorizing the Holy Qur’ a n. The Holy Prophet sa said, "O Abul- H asan, shall I tell you some useful words which would enable you to remember Qur’ a n better?" Then he advised of the manner in which it should be memorized. He instructed to offer two rak‘ a t of nafal (voluntary s al a t ) during the later part of Friday night (this is a special time of acceptance of prayer). Hadrat Ya‘q u b as (Jacob) also mentioned this hour of Friday night by saying: ْ ْ ﺳَﻮ ْ فَ اَﺳ ْ ﺘَﻐ ِّْﻔِﺮُ ﻟَکُﻢ رَىب. (Y u suf 12:99) "Soon I will seek forgiveness from my Lord. " If this is not possible, offer four rak‘ a t in the first part or the middle part of the night. Recite S u rah Al-F a ti h ah
