10 forsaken me?" furnish us with a strong evidence that Jesus was saved from death on the cross. For it is utterly unbelievable that such earnest prayers from no less a personage than Jesus Christ should go unanswered. Jesus says: "Father, I thank thee that thou hast heard me. And I know that thou hearest me always. "Again, Jesus says: “Or what man is there of you, whom if his son ask bread, will give him a stone? Or if he ask a fish, will give him a serpent?" The verses quoted at the beginning of this paragraph make it perfectly clear as to what Jesus prayed for- to be saved from death on the cross. Therefore, in view of the above promises, Jesus could not have died on the cross. Even St. Paul bears us. Paul bears us out in this conclusion: "When he offered up prayers and supplications with strong crying and tears unto. Him that was able to save him from death and was heard in that he feared. ,,8. III. According to the Bible, the death on the cross is an accursed death. "For, he that is hanged is accursed of God. ' "9 5 Matt 27:46. . John XI: 41, 42. 7 Matt 7:9, 10. 8 Hebrews 5:7. Deut. 21:23.
