Chapter 2 — Islamic Teachings about Jihad 149 َكَراَجَتْسا ُهْرِجَاَف ىّٰتَح َعَمْسَي َمٰلَك ِهّٰللا َّمُث ُهْغِلْبَا ٗهَنَمْاَم١ؕ َكِلٰذ ْمُهَّنَاِب ٌمْوَق اَّل َنْوُمَلْعَيَو اوُماَقَا َةوٰلَّصلا َو اُوَتٰا َةوٰكَّزلا اْوُّلَخَف ْمُهَلْيِبَس١ؕ َّنِا َهّٰللا ٌرْوُفَغ ٌمْيِحَّر َو ْنِا ٌدَحَا َنِّم َنْيِكِرْشُمْلا َنْيِكِرْشُمْلا ُثْيَح ْمُهْوُمُّتْدَجَو َو ْمُهْوُذُخ َو ْمُهْوُرُصْحا َو اْوُدُعْقا ْمُهَل َّلُك ٍدَصْرَم١ۚ ْنِاَف اْوُباَت ْمِهْيَلِا ْمُهَدْهَع ىٰلِا ْمِهِتَّدُم١ؕ َّنِا َهّٰللا ُّبِحُي َنْيِقَّتُمْلا اَذِاَف َخَلَسْنا ُرُهْشَاْلا ُمُرُحْلا اوُلُتْقاَف َنْيِذَّلا ْمُّتْدَهٰع َنِّم َنْيِكِرْشُمْلا َّمُث ْمَل ْمُكْوُصُقْنَي أًـْيَش َّو ْمَل اْوُرِهاَظُي ْمُكْيَلَع اًدَحَا اْۤوُّمِتَاَف ْمُكَّل١ۚ َو ْنِا ْمُتْيَّلَوَت اْۤوُمَلْعاَف ْمُكَّنَا ُرْيَغ يِزِجْعُم ِهّٰللا١ؕ َو ِرِّشَب َنْيِذَّلا اْوُرَفَك ٍباَذَعِب ٍمْيِلَا اَّلِا ِساَّنلا َمْوَي ِّجَحْلا ِرَبْكَاْلا َّنَا َهّٰللا ٌءْٓيِرَب َنِّم َنْيِكِرْشُمْلا١ۙ۬ َو ٗهُلْوُسَر١ؕ ْنِاَف ْمُتْبُت َوُهَف ٌرْيَخ َّو اْۤوُمَلْعا ْمُكَّنَا ُرْيَغ يِزِجْعُم ِهّٰللا١ۙ َو َّنَا َهّٰللا يِزْخُم َنْيِرِفٰكْلا َو ٌناَذَا َنِّم ِهّٰللا َو ٖۤهِلْوُسَر ىَلِا ٌةَءٓاَرَب َنِّم ِهّٰللا َو ٖۤهِلْوُسَر ىَلِا َنْيِذَّلا ْمُّتْدَهٰع َنِّم َنْيِكِرْشُمْلا اْوُحْيِسَف يِف ِضْرَاْلا َةَعَبْرَا ٍرُهْشَا This is a declaration of complete absolution on the part of Allah and His Messenger from all obligation to the idola- ters with whom you had made promises. So go about in the land for four months, and know that you cannot frustrate the plan of Allah and that Allah will humiliate the disbelievers. And this is a proclamation from Allah and His Messenger to the people on the day of the Greater Pilgrimage, that Allah is absolved of the idolaters, and so is His Messenger. So if you repent, it will be better for you; but if you turn away, then know that you cannot frustrate the plan of Allah. And give tidings of a painful punish- ment to those who disbelieve, Excepting those of the idolaters with whom you have entered into a treaty and who have not fallen short of ful- filling their obligations to you nor aided anyone against you. So fulfil to these the treaty you have made with them till their term. Surely Allah loves those that are righteous. And when the consecrated months have passed, kill
