It would be the height of folly to stop a person who inherits this house from undertaking its cleaning and whitewash because the house was completed long ago. It is a pity that people who make such critiques do not reflect that the completion of a structure is one thing and its periodic cleaning is quite another. It should be remembered that Reformers do not add anything to or subtract anything from the Faith. They restore to the hearts that which had been lost. And it is disobedience of a divine command to assert that it is not necessary to believe in Mujaddid i n, because God Almighty has directed: 1 َو ْنَم َرَفَك َدْعَب َكِلٰذ َكِٕىٰٓلوُاَف ُمُه َنْوُقِسٰفْلا Meaning that, whoever rejects the Khulaf a ’ who will be sent thereafter is indeed from amongst the sinners. I will now summarize this subject as follows. The arguments that have been presented below prove that it was necessary that after the death of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, Reformers should have appeared among the Muslims at times of disorder and trials. They would be entrusted with one of the functions of the Prophets; namely, that they would call to the true Faith and remove all innovations that have been intermingled with it.
