T E S T I MON Y OF T HE HOLY Q U R AN 72 Similarly, Allah says in another place: 1 َّمُث اَنْلَسْرَا اَنَلُسُر اَرْتَت Meaning that, then, We sent Our Messengers one after the other. All these verses show that it is the way of Allah that after send - ing down His Book, He definitely sends Prophets in support of it. Accordingly, in support of the Torah, sometimes as many as 400 Prophets were sent at one and the same time, to which the Bible testifies to this day. The underlying reason for sending so many Messengers is that God Almighty has warned emphatically that whoever denies His true Book shall endure in hell as punishment, as He says: The reason for sending so many Messengers is that God Almighty has warned emphatically that whoever denies His true Book shall abide in hell is the punishment for the denial, as He says: 2 َو َنْيِذَّلا اْوُرَفَك َواْوُبَّذَك ۤاَنِتٰيٰاِب َكِٕىٰٓلوُا ُبٰحْصَا ِراَّنلا١ۚ ْمُه اَهْيِف َنْوُدِلٰخ Meaning that, those who disbelieved and rejected Our Signs are condemned to the Fire and shall abide therein forever. Thus, according to the Divine Book, the punishment for rejection is very severe; but on the other hand, the issue of Prophethood and divine revelation is also very subtle.
