H A D R AT M IR Z A GHU L A M AH M AD A S 67 Let it also be clear that Allah, the Lord of Glory, says in the Holy Quran: 1 اَّنِا ُنْحَن اَنْلَّزَن َرْكِّذلا َو اَّنِا ٗهَل َنْوُظِفٰحَل Meaning that, it is We who have sent down this Book and most surely We will safeguard this revelation. This verse contains the proclamation that this Word is ever - lasting, and there will always appear such people who shall revive its teachings and deliver its benefits to the people. And if it is asked, what is the benefit of the continued existence of the Holy Quran—and its true safeguarding, too, rests upon the existence of this benefit—then another verse makes it clear: َوُه ْيِذَّلا َثَعَب يِف َنّٖيِّمُاْلا اًلْوُسَر ْمُهْنِّم اْوُلْتَي ْمِهْيَلَع ٖهِتٰيٰا َو ْمِهْيِّكَزُي َو ُمُهُمِّلَعُي َبٰتِكْلا َو 2 َةَمْكِحْلا The gist of this verse is that the Holy Quran has two great pur - poses, for the achieving of which the Holy Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, came: The first is the wisdom of the Holy Quran; that is to say, its insights and fine points; and the second is the effect of the Holy Quran, which purifies the souls.
