It is estab - lished from the a ha d i th that the Holy Quran has both apparent and hidden meanings. Therefore, if Messengers are to gather on the Day of Judgement as witnesses, we accept and testify to that meaning. But at this place, after describing the woeful signs of the Latter Days, when it is added at the end that the Messengers will be brought at the appointed time, the context is indicating that after darkness reaches its height, God will send a Messenger of His so that judgement may be rendered for various nations. Since it is established from the Holy Quran that darkness will issue forth from the Christians, the chosen one of God would come to preach to them and for their judgement. Therefore, it is for this connection that he has been named ‘ I s a, because he would be sent for the Christians just as ‘ I s a , peace be on him, was sent for them. And alif l a m [the definite article] in the verse points to a promise already made at another place, 1 َو اَذِا ُلُسُّرلا ْتَتِّقُا. Meaning that, the reformer whose advent was promised by the Noble Messenger s as himself will be sent during the period of Christian darkness. The Quranic verses that we have quoted thus far establish clearly that the Holy Quran certainly contains the prophecy that, in the Latter Days, the faith of the Christians will spread far and wide in the world. And they will plan for the religion of Islam to be wiped off the face of the earth and will leave no stone unturned in promoting their own faith.
