In fact, people have perished because of modern philosophy, new naturalism, and the evil thoughts spread by the priests. The proper response to this is to furnish proof of the divine origin of Islam—not to put people to the sword. That is why God Almighty, finding Muslims in the same condition [as the Jews], sent them a Reformer resembling Hadrat Mas ih without sword or spear, and gave him only heavenly weapons to eliminate the deception of the Antichrist. As the numerical value 1 of the letters of the hadith 2 َ عِنْد َ مَنَارَۃ ِ دِمَشْق ى ٰ ْس ي عِ [‘ I s a (will descend) near the min - aret of Damascus] is 1,400, so the Promised Messiah came in the beginning of the 14th century. And as the numerical value of the verse, 3 َنْيِرَخٰا ْمُهْنِم اَّمَل اْوُقَحْلَي ْمِهِب is 1,275, accordingly, the [advent of the] Promised Messiah was prepared at that time for the reformation of the people. The Promised Messiah appeared precisely in accordance with the Quranic glad tiding that the trumpet will be blown when the mischief of Christians runs rampant. Receiving revelations, many men of God gave news of his advent prior to its occurrence. Some of them even told his name thirty-two years prior to his arrival 1.
