جلد 21 478 تاریخ احمدیت received 72 votes officially but unofficially 76۔The four invalid ballots carried the word "Pakistan" instead of the name of the candidate and had to be declared invalid for that reason۔This was not publicised, the ballot being secret, but it is a true fact۔Thus the defeat of Prof۔Malalasekera of Ceylon is complete with 38 votes only out of 100 valid ballots۔Voting for him were the Communist countries and Cuba and Yugoslavia, Israel, India, Ceylon and a few other unidentified ones۔Among Ch۔Zafrullah's supporters were all the Arabs including Egyptians, many Africans such as Guinea, Mali and Ghana, (Leopoldville) Congo and others۔In short, the vote did not follow the usual political alignments except for the Communists۔Many of the Afro-Asian supporters of Ch۔Zafrullah may be classified as left of centre and this is a trust in his objectivity as Assembly President۔NEUTRALITY STRESSED According to custom, he held a Press conference right after the Assembly adjourned, but although every year we go through this ceremony, we can never get much news out of it۔As soon as a delegate becomes Assembly President, he must forget his opinions, personal as well as those of his country۔
