1906 879 We shall show Signs for you and shall demolish the structures which they build. All praise belongs to Allah Who has made you Mas ih ibn-e-Maryam [Messiah son of Mary]. He is not accountable for that which He does and the people are accountable. 1068 They ask: ‘Do you place in it as vicegerent one who creates disorder upon earth?’ He answered: I know about him that which you do not know. I shall humiliate him, who designs to humiliate you. In My Presence, My Messengers are not afraid of any opponent. Allah has decreed: I and My Messengers shall 1068 The holy word of God which I set out at some places in my book the Barahin-e-Ahmadiyyah [p. 497 footnote 3, p. 557 footnote 4, R uha n i Khaz a ’in , volume 1, pp. 590, 664] clearly states how God Almighty appointed me as ‘ I s a ibn-e-Maryam, [Jesus, Son of Mary]. In that book God first named me Maryam [Mary] and then disclosed this Maryam was breathed the spirit by God Himself and then He said that after the breathing of this spirit my status as Maryam was converted into my status as ‘ I s a , and thus ‘ I s a having been born of Maryam was called ibn-e-Maryam. At another place in the same context God said: Here, God Almighty set forth a metaphor, that when the status of Mary in this commissioned one was about to give birth to the status of ‘ I s a , and this commissioned one was thereby close to becoming ibn-e- Maryam, the need to propagate this phenomenon, which resembled the pain of childbirth, confronted him with the dried roots of the Muslim people which lacked the fresh fruit of understanding and righteousness. They were ready to condemn him as an impostor as soon as they heard the claim and to persecute him and to indulge in diverse ways of accusing him. Then he said in his heart: Would that I had died before this and had been utterly forgotten so that nobody had known my name.
