1885 169 (B) He [L a lah Sharampat] was told about Dal i p Singh before the event that it had been disclosed 195 to me that he was not destined to arrive in the Punjab. He would either die or be humiliated but would not achieve his purpose [Sha h na-e- H aqq, p. 43, R uha n i Khaz a ’in, vol. 2, p. 382] 195 Note by Hadrat Maul ana Jalal-ud-Din Shams ra : It is narrated by Maulav i Jam a l-ud-D i n of Sekhwan, District Gurdaspur that this vision was seen in November 1885. He writes: My humble self went to meet the Promised Messiah as in November 1885. The same day Allah the Almighty revealed the news about Dal i p Singh to him. He related it to me and several other people who were present. He said: ‘These people are expressing great joy on the expected arrival of Dal i p Singh; they will be deprived of that joy. I have been informed by God Almighty that when he travels to come, he would face great hardship and tribulation. ’ The Promised Messiah as went as far as saying that: ‘I have been shown his dead body in a coffin. ’ [Register Riw a y a t-e- S a ha bah, vol. 4, p. 155]
