He made the answer: This tree is the Qur’an, the Word of God, and this creeper means the A ha d i th and commentaries which are opposed to the Qur’an or are held to be opposed to it. The largeness of their number has the tree in its grip and is damaging it. Then I woke up. I received the revelation: [Arabic] He who turns away from the Holy Qur’an, We shall try him with evil progeny who would have a vicious life. They will run after the world and will partake nothing of My worship. In other words, the end of their progeny will be evil, and they will not be able to repent and adopt righteousness.
