(American Edition) 22 The Holy Prophet explained this verse in the following Ḥadīth: َل ِض ہللا عنه قَال َ كُنَّا جُلُوسا ا عِنْد َ النَّب ٍِِّ صل ہللا عليه وس َِبِ هُرَیْرَۃَ، ر ُ عَن ْ أ ِ فَأُنْزِلَت ْ عَلَيْه ِ سُورَۃ الْجُمُعَة ْ وَأٓخَرِین َ م ِْنُْم ْ لَمَّا یَلْحَقُوا ِبِِم ْ ُهُْ َیَ رَسُو ّللَِّ قَال َ قُلْت ُ مَن ل َ ا ّللَِّ صل ہللا ِِسُِّ، وَضَع َ رَسُول ُ ا ًَلًَثا ، وَفِينَا سَلْمَان ُ الْفَار سَأَل َ ث ََِّ ََلَْ یُرَاجِعْه ُ ح ف َعليه َ ُثَُّ قَال َل یَدَه ُ عَل َ سَلْمَان وس ” ْ َلَُ رِجَال ٌ ـ أَو ْ رَجُل ٌ ـ مِن ُّثََُّیَّ لَنَا ِ لَو ْ َكَن َ الِمیَان ُ عِنْد َ ال هَؤُلَء “. Abū Hurairah , may Allah be pleased with him, narrates: “W e were in the company of the Prophet (may peace and blessings of Allāh be upon him) w hen Sūrah Jumu’ah was revealed. [When he recited the verse] ‘Wa Ākharīna Minhum Lammā Yal ḥaqū Bihim,’ that is, ‘And (among) others of them who have not yet joined them,’ one of those present asked, “Who are they, O Messenger of Allāh?” The Holy Prophet did not reply until the third time. At that time, Salman the Persian was also among us. The Holy Prophet (may peace and blessings of Allāh be upon him) placed his hand on him and said, ‘Even if faith ascended to the Ple iades, a person or persons from among them will restore it [back to earth]. ” (Bukhārī, Kitābut - Tafsīr) From this Ḥadīth , we can conclude: 1. Sūrah Jumu‘ah mentions the advent of a messenger of Allāh in the latter - days. 2. Those who follow that messenger will be like the companions of the Holy Prophet. 3. This messenger is the Imām Mahdī and Promised Messiah. 4. He shall appear at a time when Muslims will be very weak spiritually. 5. He shall be raised from the Persian people. 6. He will be able to restore the true faith in the hearts of those who will follow him. 7. He will be succeeded by Khulaf ā who will also be from among the Persians.
