(American Edition) 23 َ ِ عَن ْ اَب ِْ ھُرَیْر َِضَِ ہللا ُ عَنْہ ُ قَال َ قَال َ رَسُول َ ہللا ۃ َ ر ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص ِ ِْسِْ بِيَدِہ ِ لَيُوْش َّ وَا َّلَِّی ْ نَف ُ کَن ّْسُِ الصَّلِيْب َ وَیَقْتُل ُ الْخ ِْنِْیْر َ وَیَضَع ُ احلَرْب َ و َ ی ُْکُُ ابْن ُ مَر َْیََ ح ََکَاا عَدْل ا فَيَک ُ اَن ْ ی َّْنِْل َ فِي ٗفِيض ٍَِّہ ل َ یَقْبَلُہ الْمَال َ ح ٍَِّہ تَکُوْن َ السَّجْدَۃ ُ الْوَاحِدَۃ ُ خ َْیْاا مِن َ ادلُّنْيَا وَمَا فِيھَا. اَحَد ٌ ح Ḥ a ḍrat Abū Hurairah relates that the Holy Prophet said: By Him in Whose hands is my life, the son of Mary will soon appear among you. He will administer justice, he will break the cross, kill the swine, abolish war and distribute wealth but no one will accept it. In those days, one prostration before Allāh will be better than the world and what it contains. (Bukhārī, Kitā bul-Anbiy ā ) The breaking of the cross and killing of the swine signifies the ideological defeat of Christianity; the abolishment of war means that Jihād with sword would be suspended; and the distribution of wealth connotes the spread of spiritual knowledge. However, the son of Mary to appear could only be a prophet bearing similar characteristics and qualities to Jesus, and not the original Jewish Messiah whose mission was confined only to the House of Israel. As the following verse of the Holy Qur’ān declares: َ َِنِۡۤاِسۡر َٓاءِیۡل ب ِٰلی ۡۡلً ا وَرَسُو “And will make him a Messenger to the children of Israel” (3[ Āl lmrān]:50) Death of Jesus Jesus cannot return physically as the Holy Qur’ān declares him dead in the following verses: ؕ ُ ِۡلِِ الرُسُل ٌ ۚ قَد ۡ خَلَت ۡ مِن ۡ قَب ِۡل َ رَسُوۡل ۡ وَمَا مُحَمَد ٌ ا ۡ اَفَا۠ئِن ۡ مَات َ اَو ۡ قُتِل َ ان ؕقَلَبۡتُم َ شَیۡئًا ّلل ی عَقِبَیۡہ ِ فَلَن ۡ یَضُر َ ا َٰۤلی ۡ ؕ وَمَن ۡ یَنۡقَلِب ۡ ع اَعۡقَابِکُم َٰۤلی ع ُ ّلل ی وَسَیَجۡزِی ا کِرِیۡن َ ﴿﴾ ی الش “And Muḥ ammad is only a Messenger. Verily all Messengers have passed away before, him. If then he dies or be slain, will you turn back on your heels? And he who turns back on his heels shall not harm Allāh at all.
