"Merely through Allah's graciousness and not through any skill of mine I have obtained full share of the bless- ing that was bestowed upon prophets, messengers and chosen men of God before me. It would not have been possible for me to have attainted this grace if I had not followed the footsteps of my lord and my master, the pride of all the prophets, the best of mankind, Muham- mad Mustafa saw , the chosen one. Whatever I have achieved, I have achieved by following him, and I know from verified, reliable personal experience that no man can reach God and obtain a deep understanding of His ways without following that Propher aw. Now let me also make it known what is the very first thing you are re- warded with, after having completely submitted yourself to the instructions and teachings of The Holy Prophet Muhammaif aw. . . " At this point, let me tell you that here the Promised Messiah 8s is revealing the central point of the discu~ sian. Earlier, I read a piece of writing by the Promised Messiah 8s which stated that obedience to Allah takes place in the heart; it has no relation to the mind. And he as says the same thing about obedience to the Holy Prophet Saw : "Whatever I have achieved, I have achieved by follow- ing him, and I know from verified, reliable personal ex- perience that no man can reach God and obtain a deep understanding of His ways without following that Proph- er aw. Now, let me also make it known what is the very first thing you are rewarded with, after having com- pletely submitted yourself to the instructions and teach- ings of The Holy Prophet Muhammad saw. It is that you are granted a sound heart that is always rightly inclined, that is to say, a heart that has turned cold upon the love of this material world, and instead it begins to yearn for an everlasting heavenly pleasure.
