HADRAT MIRZA GHULAM AHMAD xi kh – pronounced like the Scottish ch in loch. ذ dh – pronounced like the English th in that. ؟ ص - strongly articulated s. ضd – similar to the English th in this. ط - strongly articulated palatal t. جظ – strongly articulated z. ع ، a strong guttural, the pronunciation of which must be learnt by the ear. gh – a sound similar to the French r in grasseye, and to the German r. It requires the muscles of the throat to be in the 'gargling' position to pronounce it. و ق a deep guttural k sound. a sort of catch in the voice. Short vowels are represented by: a for i for и for و Long vowels by: ā for ۱ for و for و Other vowels by: (like u in bud). (like i in bid). (like oo in wood). or آ )like a in father(. or (like ee in deep). (like oo in root). ai for (like i in site).
