A Rejoinder to Pope's Allegations Against Islam — Page 7

"No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him. " (JOHN 1:18) So if no man has seen God, according to the Gospel of John then definitely Pope's statement is contradictory to his own belief. But in reality Bible supports Islamic point of view. Because it is mentioned in the Bible that God talked to Moses face to face. "And the Lord spake unto Moses face to face, as a man speaketh unto his friend. And he turned again into the camp: but his servant Joshua, the son of Nun, a young man, departed not out of the tabernacle. " (EXODUS 33:11) It is not Moses to whom God talked face to face rather he talked to other Israelites also on the mount Horeb, as it is described in the book of Deuteronomy. "1 And Moses called all Israel, and said unto them), Hear, 0 Israel, the statutes and judgments which I speak in your ears this day, that ye may learn them, and keep, and do them. 2 The Lord our God made a covenant with us in Horeb. 3 The Lord made not this covenant with our fathers, but with us, even us, who [are] all of us here alive this day. 4 The Lord talked with you face to face in the mount out of the midst of the fire. 5 I stood between the Lord and you at that time, to shew you the word of the Lord: for ye were afraid by reason of the fire, and went not up into the mount;" (DEUTERONOMY 5:1-5) 7
