SIRRUL-KHILAFAH— 200 Hadrat A term of respect used to show honour and reverence for a person of established righteous- ness and piety. The literal mean- ing is: His/Her Holiness, Worship, Eminence, etc. It is also used for God in the superlative sense. Holy Prophet s as A title used exclu- sively for the Founder of Islam, Hadrat Mu h ammad, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him. Holy Quran The final and per- fect Scripture revealed by Allah for the guidance of mankind for all times to come. It was revealed word by word to the Holy Prophet Muhammad s as over a period of twenty-three years. Imru’ al-Qays Jundu h ibn H ujr al- Kind ī y An Arabic poet in the 6th century AD. He is sometimes con- sidered the father of Arabic poetry. Ka‘bah The first house built for the worship of God, located in Mak- kah. Muslims face Ka‘bah while performing their daily Prayers [i. e. S al a t ] and make circuits of it as a part of the pilgrimage and also as an act of devotion. Khairur-Rusul The Best of the Mes- sengers—a title of honour used for the Holy Prophet Muhammad s as. Khalifah see Khulaf a ’ Khalifatul Masih Ahmadi Mus- lims refer to a successor of the Promised Messiah as as Khal i fatul- Mas ih. Khulaf a ’ is the plural of Khalifah. See also Khulaf a ’. Kh a tamul-Anbiy a’ see Kh a ta- mun-Nabiyy i n Kh a tamun-Nabiyy i n The Seal of the Prophets. A title accorded by God to the Holy Prophet Mu- h ammad s as in the Holy Quran. A variant is Kh a tamul-Anbiy a’. Khulaf a ’ Plural of Khalifah. Caliph is derived from the Arabic word khal i fah , which herein means ‘suc- cessor’. In many divine revelations someone commissioned by God Almighty is referred to as His Khalifah. In Islamic terminology, the title ‘Khal i fa-e-R a shid’ [guided Khalifah ] is applied to each of the first four Khulaf a ’ who continued the mission of the Holy Prophet Muhammad s as. Ahmadi Muslims refer to each successor of the Prom- ised Messiah as as Khalifatul Masih. Mahdi Literally means ‘Guided’.
