SIRRUL-KHILAFAH— 188 ٍ ِوَنَضَّرَت ۡ شَجۡر َ ذِکۡر ِ الل ِّٰ فِی ۡ زَمَن مَحۡل ٍ یُمِیۡت ُ قُلُوۡب َ النَّاس ِ مِن ۡ لَعِب The trees of remembrance of Allah grew in a time so barren That in a fleeting moment death could overcome the hearts of men. ٍ مُکَدَّرَۃ ٭ ٍ اَرۡض ٌ عَلٰی َ نُوۡر َح ال ِفَـ ُ بِالۡقُضُب َۡشۡرَار ل ِ ا قَت ِّ وَّمُز حَقًّا Then a light shone truly on the distressed land, And split the wicked with a [spiritual] sword. ٍ ِوَمَا بَقٰی اَثَر ٌ مِن ۡ ظُلۡم ٍ وَّبِدۡعَات بِنُوۡر ِ مُهجَۃ ِ خَیۡر ِ الۡعُجۡم ِ وَالۡعَرَب No trace of injustice or innovations remained By a spark of light from the heart of the Best of the Arabs and non-Arabs. ٍ ِ نِیَّات بِصَفَاء َ الۡوَرَی ِوَکَان ھِم ُ الۡعَلِی ۡ فِی ۡ کُل ِّ مُنۡقَلَب ِّ مَع َ رَب People’s hearts became filled with pure intentions Towards their Lord, the Exalted, in every circumstance. ۡ ۡسَمُھُم ي َ مِ ٌ رَّاق ٌ کِرَام ُ صَحۡب ِلَہ وَجَلَّت ۡ مَحَاسِنُهم ۡ فِی ۡ الۡبَدۡء ِ وَالۡعَقِب He had noble companions whose beauty was charming; Their good qualities were magnificent from the beginning till the end. ٍ ِلَھُم ۡ قُلُوۡب ٌ کَلَیۡث ٍ غَیۡر ِ مُکۡتَرِث وَفَضۡلُھُم ۡ مُسۡتَبِیۡن ٌ غَیۡر ُ مُحۡتَجِب They had the hearts of lions; Their excellence clear and obvious. قلوب ی اى عل i. e. , on hearts
