188 SIRRUL-KHILAFAH-THE REALITY OF KHILAFAH مَحْلٍ يُمِيْتُ قُلُوبَ النَّاسِ مِنْ لَعِبِ وَنَضَّرَتْ شَجْرَ ذِكْرِ اللَّهِ فِي زَمَنٍ The trees of remembrance of Allah grew in a time so barren That in a fleeting moment death could overcome the hearts of men. حَقًّا وَمُزَّقَتِ الْأَشْرَارُ بِالْقُضُبِ اى على قلوب ☆ فَلَاحَ نُورٌ عَلَى أَرْضٍ مُكَدَّرَةٍ Then a light shone truly on the distressed land, i. e. , on hearts And split the wicked with a [spiritual] sword. بِنُورِ مُهجَةِ خَيْرِ الْعُجْمِ وَالْعَرَبِ وَمَا بَقَى أَثَرٌ مِنْ ظُلْمٍ وَبِدْعَاتٍ No trace of injustice or innovations remained By a spark of light from the heart of the Best of the Arabs and non-Arabs. مَعَ رَبِّهِمُ الْعَلِي فِي كُلِّ مُنْقَلَبِ وَكَانَ الْوَرَى بِصَفَاءِ نِيَّاتٍ People's hearts became filled with pure intentions Towards their Lord, the Exalted, in every circumstance. وَجَلَّتْ مَحَاسِنُهِمْ فِي الْبَدْءِ وَالْعَقِبِ لَهُ صَحْبُ كِرَامٌ رَّاقَ مِيسَمُهُمْ He had noble companions whose beauty was charming; Their good qualities were magnificent from the beginning till the end. وَفَضْلُهُمْ مُسْتَبِيْنٌ غَيْرُ مُحْتَجِبِ لَهُمْ قُلُوبٌ كَلَيْثٍ غَيْرِ مُكْتَرِثٍ They had the hearts of lions; Their excellence clear and obvious.
