85 human life. Prior to the time of Moses no line of demarcation was drawn between Islam and kufr on the social plane. Abraham had marriage relationships with kafir families, marrying into them and maintaining other social contacts with them. But in the dispensation of Moses the true religion assumed a distinct and separate form, just as in the eras of. Adam a Noah humanity had assumed a different and higher status than other kinds of animals. The need of the time now was detailed instruction covering the three fields of human activity, namely, social, political and spiritual-instruction as to the line on which homes of the family unit were to be maintained on a clean and healthy basis; instruction in regard to social relationships between the individuals and family units; instruction, on the political side, as to the duties of rulers and the ruled; and instruction to cover the religious life of man as to the best way for worship of the Divine Being, and the ways best calculated to win His approval and nearness. In other words humanity now needed a Prophet who in his own person should be the political head and military leader, as well as the religious mentor. For this threefold task God chose Moses. .
