92 prescribed punishment? Most certainly not. It cannot be entertained even for a moment about the Holy Prophet sa that he would have deviated even slightly from the corporal punishment set by the Holy Qur’an. The heavens and the earth could evaporate, but this could have never been possible. SECOND HADITH: Maul a n a Maud u d i Sahib has also mentioned another Hadith in his book, from which he deduces that death is the punishment for apostasy. He says: A woman by the name of Ummi R u m a n (or Ummi Marw a n) apostatized. The Holy Prophet sa ordered that she be presented with Islam one more time. If she repented, it would be good; otherwise she was to be killed 93. Another Hadith by Baihaq i in this regard is that as she refused to accept Islam she was killed. However, in 'Nailul Aut a r', Imam Muhammad bin ‘Al i Shauk a n i writes regarding this Hadith: that the Isnad of both A ha d i th * are feeble 94.
