Aen the second time by patting hands on dust or on a surface with dust, rub both forearms up to the elbows. P And then, arer Wu d ū or tayammum, recite this: ٗ اَلَ شَرِیۡك َ لَہ ٗ وَاَشۡھَد ُ اَن َّ مُحَمَّدًا عَبۡدُہ ٗ وَرَسُوۡلُہٗ. َّ ا ہّٰللُّٰ وَحۡدَہ اَل ِ َّٓ اِلٰہ َ ا اَل ۡ اَشۡھَد ُ اَن Ashhadu al-l a il a ha illAll a hu wa h dah u l a shar i ka lah u ; wa ashhadu anna Mu h ammadan ‘abduh u wa Ras u luh u. I bear witness that there is no one worthy of worship except Allah. He is One and has no partner. And I bear witness that Muhammad is His servant and His Messenger. In a hadith [ see Jam i ‘ Tirmidh i , Abw a b al-Ta ha rat, Hadith 55], it is reported to also recite the following thereafter. ْنَ. ی ِ اَللّٰهُم َّ اجْعَلْنِي ْ مِن َ التَّوَّابِيْن َ وَاجْعَلْنِي ْ مِن َ الْمُتَطَهِّر All a hummaj‘aln i minattaww a b i na waj‘aln i minal-muta t ahhir i n. O Allah, make me of those who seek forgiveness and make me of those who are cleansed. 1. It has been established from authentic a ha d i th [ S a hih Bukh a r i , Kit a b- al-Tayammum, B a b al-Mutayammamu, hal Yanfukhu f i -him a , Hadith 338] that after patting hands once on the ground [and] then doing ma- sa h [passing hands through/over] of the face and both the hands to the wrists is also permissible.
