Part II – My Life as a Muslim 109 When we arrived at Sindh we were met at the station by the Jam ā ‘at. Hazrat S a hib came by car and some of the men followed on horseback. I talked with Hazrat S a hib about the American mission. In the conversation Hazrat S a hib said that they have made a program that Shukr-Il a h i worked among the white people only in the St. Louis mission. Then I said that if there are colored Ahmadis there, this would not be a good scheme. I asked Hazrat S a hib if it was not a better idea to make a program for preaching and whoever wills can come. Hazrat S a hib said that yes there are several ways but one must become a fanatic, just as Jesus Christ as went to the market places and began to preach there. The people want someone who is very far ahead of the time or very far behind. For example, our missionaries say that they must have this or that kind of cloth, but Gandhi wore only a plain white sheet and the people made him their saint. JULY 23, 1953 I asked Hazrat S a hib that we were in journey and we stopped at Kundri Sindh and we joined the prayer (Zuhr & ‘Asr) and you led the prayer and you said four raka‘ ā t for Zuhr and four raka‘ ā t for ‘Asr, but we have journeyed to Ahmedabad and you said two raka‘ ā t for Zuhr and two for ‘Asr. Why is it? Huzur said that I have land to build me a house in Kundri , but I do not have the land in Ahmedabad to build a house.
