Jalsa Salana (Annual Gathering) This donation is also compulsory and is used exclusively for the expenses of the Annual Convention held at the national level. The prescribed rate is 1/120th of one’s annual income from all sources. 6. Tahrike Jadid This scheme is responsible for the opening of new Missions and construction of mosques throughout the world. It was launched by Hazrat Khalifatul Masih II in 1932, who urged members to lead a simple life, cut down even on their meals and donate as much as possible for the propagation of Islam in countries outside of India and Pakistan. A little as a cent may be donated but the donor must resolve not only to pay it regularly but to try and increase it even by a cent every year. The suggested rate is 1/5th of one’s monthly income once a year, which is from 1st November to October 31st. 7. Waqfe Jadid This voluntary scheme was also initiated by Hazrat Khalifatul Masih II, and was primarily introduced to train and pay missionaries for the propagation of Islam and for the training of new converts in the Indian subcontinent. It has now been extended to cov er Africa and Russia. The suggested rate is $2. 00 minimum once a year from each member of the family. The Waqfe Jadid year is from January 1st to December 31st.
