CHAPTER 36 The Holy Prophet Muhammad sa 's Contentment and Unpretentiousness 868 the night and if it was not available he would drink from the water he had already brought. The An sa r i replied that he had cold water. So we all went to his orchard where this An sa r i presented us with cold water mixed in with goat's milk. The Holy Prophet Muhammad sa and his Companion drank it. " 32 Sometimes he would talk informally to his young Companions. Hadrat J a bir relates, "I was in the company of H u du r sa during a journey. I had married a few days before. He asked me, "So J a bir, you have married. " I replied, "Yes, H u du r. " He asked about my wife if she was a widow or a maiden. I replied that I had married a widow. H u du r sa said, "Why did you not marry a maiden so that you could have informal relationship with the girl of your own age. " I replied, " H u du r sa , you know my father was martyred at Uhud and left nine daughters behind. Now I have to look after nine sisters. I did not like the idea of marrying someone young and immature, so I have married this widow who would look after them and help them with hairdo etc. " 33 The Holy Prophet Muhammad sa greatly disliked affectation. Asm a ’ binte Yaz i d relates, "Once we presented food to H u du r sa , he invited us to join in the meal. We in way of formality said that we were not hungry. He said, Do not combine the two things together, that is hunger and a lie. " 34
