CHAPTER 17 The Prophet sa as a Summoner to All a h 346 advice and preached consistently. In seven years seventy or eighty households accepted Islam through him and settled in Mad i nah. 17 Acceptance of truth through dreams It was natural that at the start of opposition, the Holy Prophet Muhammad sa prayed fervently for victory. He was praying day and night for the guidance of his people. God inspired the pious souls towards the truth of Islam and inclined them towards the Holy Prophet Muhammad sa. In this respect acceptance of Islam by Kh a lid ra bin Sa‘ i d is an example. He was the first one among his brothers to accept Islam after seeing a dream. Kh a lid ra saw in his dream that he had been made to stand on the edge of a fiery ditch. That ditch was very wide and his father was pushing him into the fire, when the Holy Prophet Muhammad sa pulled him back by his waistband. He was very frightened by this dream. He said, "I take oath in the name of All a h that this dream is true. He met Hadrat Ab u Bakr ra and told him about the dream. Hadrat Ab u Bakr ra said that this was a blessed and pure dream and that he should follow the Holy Prophet Muhammad sa and accept Islam. He further added that it seemed he would certainly do that.
