CHAPTER 36 The Holy Prophet Muhammad sa 's Contentment and Unpretentiousness 864 breakfast. Hadrat ‘ A ’ishah ra told him that some dates and vinegar were in the house. The Holy Prophet Muhammad sa said, "How excellent curry is the vinegar. O All a h, bless this vinegar, the Prophets before me had eaten it and a house which has vinegar is not poor. " 21 Hadrat ‘Abdull a h bin Sal a m relates that the Holy Prophet Muhammad sa had a date on a piece of bread and was saying, "This date serves as a curry for this piece of bread. 22 The Holy Prophet Muhammad sa observed simplicity on both happy as well as sad occasions. Hadrat ‘Al i ra tells us that the Holy Prophet Muhammad sa gave items of basic necessity to his daughter, F at imah ra at her wedding. These included one silk sheet, one leather mattress filled with date palm fiber, a grind-stone for grinding the grain, one waterskin and two pitchers. " 23 Hadrat ‘Abdull a h bin Sab i l ra relates, "The Holy Prophet Muhammad sa had a large utensil which was used for cooking food. It was so heavy that it needed four persons to lift it. On ‘E i d day the meat of sacrificed animals was cooked in it. It was called 'Thar i d'. Then all the people would gather and eat from it. When the number of people increased, H u du r sa sat on his knee in a way that his feet were on the ground and the weight of his body was on his knees. A bedouin was also sitting there.
