CHAPTER 35 The Holy Prophet Muhammad sa 'sAmazing Humility 844 Prophet Muhammad sa heard this and said, "Come to the point, lest the Satan takes refuge in you. I am Muhammad bin ‘Abdull a h and the Messenger of All a h. I do not wish that people exaggerate my status more than what All a h has given to me. " 36 Hadrat H usain bin ‘Al i ra said, "You can no doubt love us, but it should be 'Islamic love' (meaning, it should not be excessive) only, because I have heard the Holy Prophet Muhammad sa say, "Do not portray me more than what my right dictates, as God made me a man first and a Messenger afterwards. " 37 Rab i ‘ binte Mu‘awidh relates, "The Holy Prophet Muhammad sa came to participate in my wedding ceremony. The girls were playing the drum and singing. Their songs were in praise of my martyred ancestors. On seeing H u du r sa one of the girls spontaneously composed this verse, ٍوَﻓِْﻨﺎ َﺪr ِْ ُ ﻣَﺎىف ٌِ ﻳَﻌْﻠَﻢ ﻧَىب "We have amongst us such a Prophet who can foretell what is going to happen tomorrow. " The Holy Prophet Muhammad sa stopped her immediately and said, "Leave such talk and sing what you were singing before. " 38 No doubt the Holy Prophet Muhammad sa made countless true prophecies about the future, based on the knowledge from God, but he was apprehensive of exaggeration, so he stopped the girl from saying so.
