CHAPTER 27 The Holy Prophet Muhammad sa 's Excellent Example of Marital life 690 Hadrat ‘Al i ra relates, "Once F at imah ra and I were starving. When I came home and found F at imah sitting sadly, I asked her the reason of her sadness, she said, 'We did not eat last night and this morning there is no food for us. There would be nothing to eat in the evening either. ' I went out, worked as labourer and bought one Dirham's worth of grain and meat. She told me to go and call her father, the Holy Prophet Muhammad sa. I went and saw H u du r sa lying in the mosque and reciting this prayer " َ ُ ا ْ ﻋ ُ ﻮ ِ ذ ِّٰﺑ ِﺎH َ ﻣ ُْﻦ ِ اجل َﻮع ِ ﺿ ْ ﺠ ً ﻴ ﻌ ﺎ " meaning. "I seek All a h's refuge from hunger and starvation. " I requested him, 'My parents be sacrificed for you, O Messenger of All a h, we have food in our house, please come'. H u du r sa supported by me came to our house. The cooking pot was boiling. The Holy Prophet Muhammad sa said to F at imah ra to set aside some food for ‘ A ’ishah ra. She put food in a bowl. Then he told her to give some food for H af s ah ra. She put some food in another bowl. One by one H u du r sa made her give food to all of his nine wives. After this he advised her to put aside some of the food for her father and husband, when she had done that, H u du r sa told her to eat. She took the cooking pot off the boil, it was still full.
