CHAPTER 17 The Prophet sa as a Summoner to All a h 36 8 sought their help against Khazraj tribe. The Holy Prophet Muhammad sa went to them and invited them to Islam. These young men belonged to ‘Abdul Ashhal branch of Aus tribe and had come to Makkah under the leadership of chief Abul Ja li s. Their mission was to arrange a pact with the Quraish against Khazraj. The Holy Prophet Muhammad sa went to them and said, "Shall I tell you something better than the mission for which you have come?" On their enquiry he said, "I am a Prophet of God. He has ordained me for the guidance of mankind, so that they worship Him and do not associate partners with Him. He has revealed the book to me. " Then the Holy Prophet Muhammad sa explained Islamic teachings and recited the Holy Qur’ a n for them. On hearing this, a young man, Ay a s bin Mu‘ a dh said, "O my people, this message is much better than your intended mission. " On hearing this, their leader chief Abul Ja li s gathered a fistful of pebbles and threw them in Ay a s's face. They returned to Mad i nah and afterwards Aus and Khazraj fought a battle at Bu‘ a th. 42 Preaching to the people of Yathrab Hadrat J a bir ra relates that the Holy Prophet Muhammad sa constantly preached for ten years to pilgrims at H ajj. He would go into their tents and invite them to Islam. He also used to go to the fairs at Majinnah and ‘Ukk az and say, "Who is there who agrees to help me
