CHAPTER 14 The Holy Prophet Muhammad sa 's Compassion for Mankind 264 while fasting during the month of Rama da n". H u du r sa advised him to free a slave. He replied, "It is beyond my capacity". Then H u du r sa suggested, "Observe fast for two months. " He said, that he had not the power for it. Then H u du r sa told him to feed sixty poor people. He replied that he was unable to afford it. In the meantime someone presented a basket of dates to the Holy Prophet Muhammad sa. H u du r sa called this poor person and giving him this basket, advised him to give these dates in charity. He replied, "Who else is poorer than me in Mad i nah that I give him alms. " The Holy Prophet Muhammad sa smiled broadly and said that he could keep these dates for himself. 23 Mundhar bin Jar i r ra relates from his father that they were with the Holy Prophet Muhammad sa. It was before noon. Some people belonging to a poor tribe came to see H u du r sa. Their bodies were not covered properly and their feet had no shoes. They had swords in their hands. These were the people from the Mu d ar tribe. Seeing their hunger and starvation, H u du r sa was visibly moved. He went into his house and on coming out he told Bil a l ra to say Adh a n for Z uhr. After the prayer H u du r sa gave a sermon in which he motivated people to give charity. Companions gave money, clothes, oats and dates.
