Muhammad (saw) – The Perfect Man — Page 129

Muhammad sa The Perfect Man 129 one night he had the opportunity of spending the night, praying with the Holy Prophet Muhammad sa. H u du r sa recited Al-Baqarah first. He would at every verse referring to mercy, pray for All a h's mercy and at every verse referring to punishment, he would pause and seek All a h's shelter. Afterwards he stayed in Ruk u ‘ as long as he stood for Qiy a m and praised and glorified All a h. Then he prostrated for the same length of time. In prostration he continued this praise of All a h. Afterwards he stood up and recited S u rah A l-e-‘Imr a n. In the later Rak‘ a ts , he recited one S u rah in each Rak‘ a t. 14 Rama da n is the month in which the Holy Qur’ a n was revealed. During this month the recitation of the Qur’ a n and pondering over its meaning was the main occupation of Muslims. Hadrat Ibn-e-‘Abb a s ra tells us that the Holy Prophet Muhammad sa excelled in doing good deeds and in Rama da n this was evident even more so. When Gabriel visited him during the night and this would happen every night of Rama da n, he would revise the Qur’ a n with him. The Holy Prophet Muhammad sa 's zeal for doing good deeds would take on an amazing hue. His generosity excelled a storm in full force. 15 In other traditions we learn that Gabriel used to revise the Holy Qur’ a n once every year in Rama da n but in the year of H u du r sa 's demise, he revised it twice. 16 This was the last sunnah of the Holy Prophet Muhammad sa.
