Muhammad sa The Perfect Man 121 his life. He endured siege of She‘b-e-Ab i Ta lib for H u du r sa 's sake. When Ab u Ta lib fell ill, he asked the Holy Prophet Muhammad sa for prayers. He asked him to pray to his Lord for his health and with these prayers he recovered. 44 It is obvious from this incident that Ab u Ta lib did believe in him as a truthful one but did not profess belief openly. In his last illness, the Holy Prophet Muhammad sa requested him to proclaim Islam but he could not do so. Despite this H u du r sa always treated him with kindness. Hadrat ‘Al i ra relates "When the Holy Prophet Muhammad sa was told of the death of Ab u Ta lib, he started to cry and instructed him to wash his body and cover it with the shroud. He prayed for the departed soul that God may forgive him and show His mercy. " 45 At the funeral H u du r sa was overwhelmed by the thoughts of his kindness and prayed, "O All a h! Give him the best reward. " 46 The Holy Prophet Muhammad sa wanted his Companions and friends to develop this trait of gratefulness in them. He advised Hadrat Ab u Hurairah,"O Ab u Hurairah, fear All a h a great deal, then you will be able to worship All a h more than the others. Be content and you will be the most grateful among men. " 47 May God bestow upon us the capability of being grateful by following the example of our master the Holy Prophet Muhammad sa. A m i n
