Hearing this, a Companion rose to kill him as he had already been sentenced to death. The Holy Prophet Muhammad sa told him to leave Ka‘b alone as he had come begging forgiveness. Then Ka‘b read his eulogy. One of the couplets was; ْ َ اِن َّ اﻟﺮَّﺳُﻮ َ لَ ﻟ ْ ﺴ ٌ ﻴ ُّﻒ ْ ﻳ َ ﺴ َ ﺘ ُ ﻀ ِﺎء ٖ ﺑ ﻪ ُ َ ﻣ َّ ﻬ ٌ ﻨ ِﺪ ْ ﻣ َﻦ ُ ﺳ ْ ﻴ ِ ﻮ ِّٰف َاH ْ ﻣ ُ ﺴ ْ ﻠ ٗ ﻮ ل 'This prophet is such a sw o rd, which enlightens with its luster. This is a great wielded Indian sword, which is one of the swords of All a h. ' The Holy Prophet Muhammad sa was very pleased with his poem and covered him with his own shawl as a reward. This is how an enemy received pardon as well as a reward from the court of the Holy Prophet Muhammad sa. 33 In short the Holy Prophet Muhammad sa 's forgiveness was so extensive that God's attribute of 'Forgiver' is beautifully reflected in it.
