CHAPTER 31 The Holy Prophet Muhammad sa 'sUnique Graciousness 780 All a h, you have forgiven every Tom, Dick and Harry, please be kind to your paternal cousin and forgive him as well. " The Holy Prophet Muhammad sa forgave him. ‘Umair ra asked for a token of forgiveness. H u du r sa gave him his black turban as a token. This was the turban H u du r sa was wearing on the day of victory of Makkah. ‘Umair ra went and informed Safw a n about his pardon. Safw a n could not believe it to be true. He told ‘Umair ra , "You are a liar, get out of my sight, how could a person with my record of evil deeds be forgiven?" ‘Umair ra tried to make him understand that the Holy Prophet Muhammad sa was more generous than he could ever imagine. He is forbearing and kind. Now his honour was linked to H u du r sa 's honour and H u du r sa 's rule was the only rule for him. On this assurance, Safw a n presented himself to the Holy Prophet Muhammad sa and first of all asked the question if he had been given safety. H u du r sa said, "Yes, I have given you amnesty. " Then Safw a n requested, "Give me two months time in which I can stay in Makkah while adhering to my faith.
