CHAPTER 18 The Holy Prophet Muhammad sa as a Patron and a Great Teacher 418 himself in these words, "O All a h, make my heart steadfast on my faith. " When he was asked for the wisdom of this prayer, he replied, "The heart is between the fingers of the Gracious God, He can turn it over whenever He wishes. " 14 The Holy Prophet Muhammad sa disliked exaggeration in praise even as an encouragement. On hearing such praise from someone, he said, "You have cut the throat of your companion, as there is a danger in such a praise. It might lead that person to arrogance. " Nevertheless he did not stop from justified praise for the sake of encouragement. He advised that while intending to praise somebody, scrupulous words should be used in mentioning that person's good quality and only such words should be used, "In my opinion this person possesses such quality, the rest All a h knows better. " 15 Once Ummul-Mumin i n, Hadrat H af s ah ra , related her brother ‘Abdull a h bin‘Umar's ra dream to the Holy Prophet Muhammad sa. H u du r sa commented on it by giving excellent advice. He said, "‘Abdull a h is a pious young man, it would be commendable if he cultivates the habit of offering Tahajjud prayer. " 16 This sincere wish and encouragement by H u du r sa revolutionized the life of Hadrat ‘Abdull a h bin ‘Umar ra and he become a devout pious person.
