CHAPTER 14 The Holy Prophet Muhammad sa 's Compassion for Mankind 258 only then the Holy Prophet Muhammad sa left the place. Al-Ar a sh i came back to the chiefs of Quraish and said, "May All a h reward Mu h ammad, who helped me to get my money". In the meantime, the person sent for snooping returned as well. He said, "I saw a strange sight today. As soon as Muhammad asked Ab u Jahal to pay Al-Ar a sh i 's money, he complied immediately and paid up. " A little while later Ab u Jahal arrived. They asked him as to what came over him. Ab u Jahal said, "As soon as I heard Mu h ammad's voice, I was awe-stricken. When I came out, I saw a fearsome camel near Mu h ammad's head. Had I refused to pay this camel would have torn me apart. " 10 Compassion for the Umma The heart of the Holy Prophet Muhammad sa brimmed with compassion for his Ummah. ‘Abb a s bin Mird a s As-Salama i ra relates that Holy Prophet Muhammad sa prayed for the forgiveness for his Ummah in the evening of ‘Araf a t during the last pilgrimage ( H ajjat-ul- Wid a ’). He received the reply from God that members of his Ummah would be forgiven except those who transgress. The transgressor would be liable for recompense. The Holy Prophet Muhammad sa supplicated God to grant paradise as re-compensation to the one who had been wronged and forgive the oppressor. He did not receive any response from God that evening. Again he prayed with this request in
