74 HADRAT MIRZA GHULAM AHMAD دَفَاهُمْ عَمَايَاتُ الْأُنَاسِ وَحُمْقُهُمْ رَأَوْا مُدَّ قَوْمٌ وَالْمُدَى قَدْ شَهَّرُوا The ignorance of the people disappointed my companions, Who found that the people of Mudh were at daggers drawn with them. فَصَارُوْا بِمُدِّ لِلرِّمَاحِ دَرِيَةً وَيَعْلَمُهَا أَحْمَدُ عَلِيُّ الْمُدَبِّرُ So, my friends had to face a 'barrage of spears' at Mudh, And Ahmad Ali, who chaired the event, is well-informed of this. وَكَانَ ثَنَاءُ اللَّهِ فِي كُلِّ سَاعَةٍ يُأْجِّجُ نِيرَانَ الْفَسَادِ وَ يُسْعِرُ On the other hand, Sanaullah continued, To fuel the fire of mischief and disorder. وَفِي قَلْبِهِ كَانَ الْهَوَى يَتَزَخَّرُ أَرى مَنْطِقًا مَا يَنْبَحُ الْكَلْبُ مِثْلَهُ The statements he made were more virulent than the barking of a dog; Lowly passions overwhelmed his heart. أُصَاةٌ عَلَى عَوْرَاتِهِ هُوَ مُشْعِرُ وَإِنَّ لِسَانَ الْمَرْءِ مَا لَمْ يَكُنْ لَّهُ And unless one's tongue is backed by reason, It only betrays one's hidden flaws. يُكَلِّمُ حَتَّى يَعْلَمَ النَّاسُ كُلُّهُمْ جَهُولٌ فَلَا يَدْرِي وَلَا يَتَبَصَّرُ When a person of this kind speaks, everyone finds out, That he is ignorant with no sense and wisdom.
