THE MIRACLE OF AHMAD وَخَفْ قَهْرَ رَبِّ قَالَ لَا تَقْفُ فَاحْذَرُ أَمُكْفِرِ مَهْلًا بَعْضَ هَذَا التَّهَكُمِ O one who calls me a disbeliever! Calm down, And fear the power of the Almighty, who says: And follow not that of which you have no knowledge. فَأَيْنَ التَّقَى يَا أَيُّهَا الْمُتَهَوِّرُ وَإِذْ قُلْتُ إِنِّي مُسْلِمٌ قُلْتَ كَافِرٌ When I say I am a Muslim, you say I am a disbeliever; O audacious one! Where has your piety gone? وَإِنْ كُنْتَ لَا تَخْشَى فَقُلْ لَّسْتَ مُؤْمِنًا وَيَأْتِي زَمَانٌ تُسْتَلَنَّ وَتُخْبَرُ If you do not fear God, you must declare that you are not a believer; Indeed the time is coming when you will be held accountable and made aware. فَلَا السَّبُّ يُؤْذِينِي وَلَا الْمَدْحُ يُبْطِرُ وَإِنِّي تَرَكْتُ النَّفْسَ وَالْخَلْقَ وَالْهَوَى I have abandoned the self, the creation, and avarice; Consequently, neither vituperation distresses me nor does praise make me proud. فَلَمَّا أَتَانِي صَاغِرًا صِرْتُ أَصْغُرُ وَكَمْ مِّنْ عَدُوٌّ كَانَ مِنْ أَكْبَرِ الْعِدَا There are many who used to be my mortal enemies; When someone from among them approached me with humility, I reciprocated with even greater humility. وَلَسْتُ بِذِي كُهْرُوْرَةٍ غَيْرَ أَنَّنِي إِذَا زَادَ فُحْشًا ذُوْ عِنَادٍ أُصَعِّرُ I am not a man with a grudge; When someone surpasses the limits in hurling abuse at me, I simply turn away from such a person. 123
