THE MIRACLE OF AHMAD رَحِيقٌ كَنَجْمٍ نَاصِعِ اللَّوْنِ أَحْمَرُ وَ كَأْسٍ سَقَانِي رُوْحُ رُوْحِيْ كَأَنَّهَا I have drunk a number of goblets from the hands of the soul of my soul; It was as if it was a wine of red colour which was shining like a star. وَكَمْ مِّنْ نُّقُوْلِ قَدْ فَرَاهَا مُسَجِّرُ فَلَا تُبْشِرُوا بِالنَّقْلِ يَا مَعْشَرَ الْعِدَا Therefore, O my opponents! Let not mere historical traditions please you; There are many traditions and sayings that have been fabri- cated by the fabricators. فَأَيَّ حَدِيثٍ بَعْدَهُ نَتَخَيَّرُ هَلِ النَّقْلُ شَيْءٍ بَعْدَ إِيْحَاءِ رَبِّنَا Moreover, of what significance are traditional records in light of revelation from God? Which hadith shall we believe over Divine revelation? وَقَدْ مُرِّقَ الْأَخْبَارُ كُلَّ مُمَزَّقٍ فَكُلُّ بِمَا هُوَ عِنْدَهُ يَسَتَبْشِرُ The ahādīth are scattered; Each sect is pleased with their own assortment of traditions. عَلَى فَضْلِ شَيْءٍ عَابَ أَوْ أَنْتَ تَهْذِرُ أَعِنْدَكَ بُرْهَانٌ قَوِيٌّ مُّنَقَّحٌ Do you have an argument to prove the erudition of Muhammad Husain, Who finds faults with my writings, or are you uttering mere absurdities? 105
