Message of the Holy Quran — Page ix

~ ix ~ Preface The Message of the Holy Qur’ a n has its root in the Index that I was asked to prepare of the Holy Qur’ a n – Arabic Text with English Translation and Short Commentary, edited by Malik Ghulam Farid Sahib. This Message is a logical progression of that effort. It was my desire to group all the verses of the Holy Qur’ a n on a particular subject listed under one heading, so that the correct overall message could be easily understood. I hope, I have suc- ceeded in this to some measure. In order to list possible subjects many different translations of the Holy Qur’ a n, encyclopedias, dictionaries and indices were consulted, both in print as well as online. I was then able to list these verses under various headings and subheadings. Some verses appear more than once under different headings. The verses are referenced by S u rah#: Verse#. People who wish to find what the Holy Qur’ a n says about a par- ticular subject will find approptiate verses in one place, which will help in comprehending its true message. At the end I have provided an Index of subject headings, which will assist in selecting the intended subject. Every effort has been made to ensure that there are no mistakes in the Qur’ a nic text or its English translation, but we are all prone to error. I would like to thank Hanif Ahmad Mahmood Sahib, N a ’ib N az ir I s l ah -o-Irsh a d and my colleagues in Wak a lat-e-Ta s n i f for their guidance and support. I am also deeply indebted to Munir- ud-Din Shams Sahib, Additional Wak i lut-Ta s n i f, London for his encouragement and help in the final stages of this publication.
