374 MALFŪZĀT - ENGLISH TRANSLATION OF URDU VOLUME 9 A Sign is a Great Thing The whole Jama'at ought to remember that until now the mat- ters concerning Islam that the Christians, Ārya, and other opponents object to and make allegations about due to their lack of understanding, what is the need that [an opportunity be provided for] those same objections to be brought up anew? Does God not have any other weapons [than the sword] to sup- port His Messenger? Those arms in the past injured the body, but these [Signs] strike at the heart. Just one Sign can refute thousands of objections. A [Subtle] Point The apostate Dr ['Abdul-Hakīm] has determined the reason for the death of the late Maulawi 'Abdul-Karim and the late Babu Muhammad Afzal to be the opposition to his commentary. On this, Munshi Ahmad Din, Appeal Writer, of Gujranwala, men- tioned a wonderful point that, 'Dr Şahib himself has become an opponent of his own commentary.
