Malf uza t - English translation of Urdu Volume 9 330 complete silence in this era. There was no one claiming to receive Divine wa hi and being the Promised Messiah as. At such a time, God Almighty sent revelation to me and appointed me as the Promised Messiah as. This matter is also on the pattern of prophethood that the claim of the truthful one should occur first and then the liars should follow after that. Not only were the people unaware, I also did not know. It was my own personal habit that I would send articles to newspa- pers against other religions, and I would endeavour to manifest the truthfulness of Islam. During those days, a newspaper of a Christian by the name of S af i r-e-Hind and a magazine of the Brahmans with the title Br a dar-e-Hind used to be published. I had written some articles in both of them but my purpose in these articles was only presenting intellectual arguments and there was no thought of showing Divine wa hi or Signs. I had already written two volumes of Barahin-e-Ahmadiyya and I did not know at the time until all of a sudden I received the ilh a m: َ ْن ی ِ اَلرَّحْمٰن ُ عَلَّم َ الْقُرْاٰن َ قُل ْ اِنِّي ْٓ اُمِرْت ُ و َ اَنَا اَوَّل ُ الْمُؤْمِن َ ْن ی ِ اَلرَّحْمٰن ُ عَلَّم َ الْقُرْاٰن َ قُل ْ اِنِّي ْٓ اُمِرْت ُ و َ اَنَا اَوَّل ُ الْمُؤْمِن The Gracious [God] Who has taught you the Quran. Say, ‘I have been commissioned and I am the first of the believers. ’ I have also recorded the following ilh a m in the same Barahin-e-Ahmadiyya : َّ ْك َ و َ رَافِعُك َ اِلَي ی اِنِّي ْ مُتَوَفِّ ی ٰۤ ٰعِيْس ی َّ ْك َ و َ رَافِعُك َ اِلَي ی اِنِّي ْ مُتَوَفِّ ی ٰۤ ٰعِيْس ی O ‘ I s a , I shall give you full reward or cause you to die and shall raise you towards Me. and in the same book, I have presented my previous belief regarding Jesus as that he was in the heavens.
