Malf uza t - English translation of Urdu Volume 9 184 to Aligarh also was with the directive and advice of his father, and not my directive at all. Similarly, participation in opposi- tion to teachers was not due to some relation with me, and for this reason he is excommunicated from Bai‘at [the Pledge of Allegiance] until he does taubah [repentance] from his action, seeking forgiveness from his teachers. 1 Albeit, other students, Maulaw i Ghulam Muhammad, etc. , consulted me before going to Aligarh. I had advised them that there is no harm in going there if they avoid the company of the other students there and do not participate in any wickedness. A person goes to the toi- let to relieve himself but safeguards himself from the filth. 1. Mirza Aziz Ahmad ’s Renewal of Bai‘at: Mirza Aziz Ahmad sent the following detailed letter to the Promised Messiah as from Mianwali where he is staying during his seasonal leave: ْمِ* ی بِسْم ِ هللا ِ الرَّحْمٰن ِ الرَّحِ ْمِ* ی ِبِسْم ِ هللا ِ الرَّحْمٰن ِ الرَّحِ ْم ی ِ رَسُوْلِه ِ الْكَر ی ِنَحْمَدُہ ٗ وَنُصَلِّي عَلٰ ْم ی ِ رَسُوْلِه ِ الْكَر ی نَحْمَدُہ ٗ وَنُصَلِّي عَلٰ [In the name of Allah, the Gracious, the Merciful We praise Him and seek blessings for His noble Messenger] To the Imam of the Age, the Promised Messiah, peace and blessings be upon him, ٗ َاتُہ ک َ ْكُم ْ وَرَحْمَة ُ هللا ِ وَبَر ی اَلس َّاَلَم ُ عَلَ ٗ َاتُہ ک َ ْكُم ْ وَرَحْمَة ُ هللا ِ وَبَر ی اَلس َّاَلَم ُ عَلَ [Peace be upon you, and the mercy and blessings of Allah] This devoted servant seeks forgiveness for his past failures and requests that the past lapses of this humble one may be forgiven and he may be included among the T a bi‘ i n [the generation of Muslims after the Companions]. Furthermore, pray for this humble one that may Allah the Exalted keep him steadfast in the future. The Promised Messiah’s Humble One ‘Aziz Ahmad’ The Promised Messiah responded to this letter: I forgive that infringement.
