Various possibilities for this mistake have been mentioned in the Shia literature. According to one episode, Hadrat Jibr a ’ i l as [Gabriel] mistook the Holy Prophet sa as Hadrat Ali ra due to their physical resemblance. Since the first mistake was made, Hadrat Jibr a ’ i l, may peace be on him, had no choice but to continue revealing [the Quran] to the Holy Prophet sa. 8. The above quotation is taken from a pamphlet Khul as a’e- ‘Aq a ’ide Madh’habe Shia published by Sunn i Anjuman Tan- zi m-ul-Mas a jid, Muslim Town Gujranwala. It has not been verified completely with the original books; however other references containing similar statements have been verified.
