17 Sh a h Wal i -Ull a h of Delhi was Mujaddid and Reformer of the century. He translated the Holy Qur’an in Persian— the then official language of India. This enraged the mullahs who stated that the Holy Word of God should not be translated from the original Arabic. They engaged ruffians to kill him, but he miraculously escaped un- harmed. Sheikh Muhammad Bin ‘Abdul Wahh a b was a Najd i Arab and a Reformer of Islam of the age. He was also the founder of the Wahh a b i Movement. He was declared a heretic by the Muft i and Imam of the Holy Ka‘bah in Mecca. As is well known, most of the Arabs of Saudi Arabia, including the Royal Family, are Wahh a b i s now. 13 th Century Hijra Maulaw i ‘Abdull a h Ghaznaw i , a steadfast scholar of Islam, was attacked by the half-educated mullahs at the Afghan Royal Court and was exiled. He was exiled in the reign of one Am i r and when he returned during the reign of the next Am i r, he was insulted, humiliated and thrown into jail where he died. Maul a n a Muhammad Q a sim N a nutw i was a disciple of Sh a h ‘Abdul Ghan i of Delhi, the Founder of the famous Deoband (India) Seminary of Islamic studies. Maul a n a Q a sim was a popular Muslim leader and a formidable debater and a scholar. He was declared an apostate and an infidel by twelve ulema of Mecca and 32 of Medina, because he held that the coming of a prophet could not and would not abrogate the position of the Holy Prophet Muhammad as Kh a tamun Nabiyy i n , Seal of the Prophets.
