274 With Love to Muhammad sa the Kh ā tam-un-Nabiyy ī n Other Verses on the Continuation of Prophethood There are other verses of the Holy Qur’ ā n which prove the fact that prophethood continues, that is, prophets may come from among the followers of the Holy Prophet Muhammad sa. For instance, All ā h, the Exalted, states: ُْ ﺟَﺎٓءَمك َُّ مث ٍ وَّﺣِمكَْﺔ ٍ ﻛِﺘٰﺐ ْ ﻣِّﻦ ُْ اٰﺗَﻴْﺘُمك ۤ ﻟَﻤَﺎ َّٖ اﻟﻨَّﺒِني َ ﻣِﻴْﺜَﺎق ُّٰ اهلل َ اَﺧَﺬ ْ وَاِذ ُّ ﻣ ٌ رَﺳُﻮْل ٗ وَﻟَـﺘَﻨْرصُُﻧَّﻪ ٖ ﺑِﻪ َُّ ﻟَﺘُﺆْﻣِنن ُْ ﻣَﻌَمك ﻟِّﻤَﺎ ٌ ﺼَﺪِّق ؕ ُْ ءَاَﻗْﺮَرْمت َ ﻗَﺎل ْ اِرصِْى ُْ ذٰﻟِمك ٰ ﻋَىل ُْ ؕوَاَﺧَﺬْمت َ اَﻗْﺮَرْان ﻗَﺎﻟُﻮْۤا ؕ ُْ ﻣَﻌَمك َ وَاَان ﻓَﺎﺷْﻬَﺪُوْا َ ﻗَﺎل َ اﻟﺸّٰﻬِﺪِﻳْﻦ َ ﻣِّﻦ And remember the time when All ā h took a covenant from the people through the prophets, saying: “Whatever I give you of the Book and Wisdom and then there comes to you a messenger, fulfilling that which is with you, you shall believe in him and help him. ” And He said: “Do you agree, and do you accept the responsibility which I lay upon you in this matter?” They said, “We agree;” He said, “Then bear witness, and I am with you among the witnesses. ” 271 This verse is known as the verse of “ اeFبiiن a iGثاق ”( The Covenant of the Prophets ) and Hazrat Mirz ā T ā hir Ahmad rh , the 4 th successor of the Promised Messiah as , explains it as follows: The verse speaks of a covenant All ā h had taken from the People of the Book through their prophets.
